Privacy Policy
iJustWantATimer Chrome Extension - Last updated: March 31, 2026
iJustWantATimer is a single-purpose time tracking extension. This policy explains exactly what data is collected, how it is used, and what (if anything) leaves your device.
Data stored locally on your device
The following data is stored only in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) and is never transmitted to any server:
- Timer state (whether a timer is running and when it started)
- Time entries (date, start time, end time, duration, and optional task title you type)
- Task title history (for autocomplete suggestions)
- Extension preferences (e.g., whether the pin reminder has been dismissed)
Optional: Browsing history
iJustWantATimer can optionally read your browsing history to suggest what you were working on during a tracked session. This feature is off by default. You can enable or disable it at any time in the extension's Settings.
When enabled:
- The extension reads the domains (e.g., github.com, stackoverflow.com) you visited during each timed session.
- Only the top 3 domain names are stored alongside that session's time entry.
- Full URLs and page titles are never stored.
- This data is stored locally and never transmitted anywhere.
When disabled, no browsing history is accessed at any time.
Data sent externally
The only data that ever leaves your device is sent when you purchase, activate, or periodically validate a Pro license. This happens only so we can verify a valid purchase and keep Pro access tied to the same installation:
- License key - the key you receive after purchase, sent to Lemon Squeezy to verify its validity.
- Instance name - a randomly generated identifier created locally on your device (not linked to your name, email, or any personal information), sent during activation so Lemon Squeezy can label the license instance.
- Instance ID - the identifier Lemon Squeezy returns after activation, stored locally so the same device can be validated later.
Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy governs how they handle this data: lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
Data we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information.
- We do not use analytics or crash reporting.
- We do not use advertising networks.
- We do not share any data with third parties (except the license key and instance data described above, which are sent only to Lemon Squeezy for license verification).
- We do not sell data.
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
iJustWantATimer complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy. Any user data collected is used solely to provide the extension's core time-tracking functionality. Browsing history access is optional, user-controlled, and used only to generate locally-stored activity suggestions.
Your rights
All locally stored data can be deleted at any time using the "Clear all entries" button in the extension's Settings. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data.
